Updated 20 March: Aemet has forecast the wind to pick up tomorrow becoming particularly strong – Force 7 – on Friday. The south-east of Tenerife will be worst affected, and the winds will also bring wild seas, leading the Met Office to issue a yellow alert for costeros from 3am Thursday night: it current lasts the whole of Friday.

Updated 7 March: With the unsettled weather, Aemet has issued a yellow alert for costeros around most of Tenerife on Saturday. Costeros are wild seas with heavy swell and high waves breaking over the coastline: the public is always advised not to go in the sea in such conditions and indeed to avoid the coastline generally. For further advice on staying safe in Tenerife’s waters please see HERE.

Updated 4 March: The southern extremity of a storm in the UK will reach the Canaries from tomorrow night, meteorologists are forecasting. The cold front should bring light rain in the north of the islands, especially La Palma and Gran Canaria, through Wednesday morning, but dissipate by midday.  This doesn’t sound like much but some should have some rain, and these weather systems can develop through time so there may be further updates.
