Several times over the weekend, lifeguards on different beaches of the island saved lives during the weekend. At the Playa de Las Teresitas, just outside the capital, a 26-year-old Chinese man suffered a cardiac arrest. The Red Cross rescue workers, a doctor and a nurse from the Anaga Health Centre treated the young man with resuscitation measures until the arrival of the ambulance service. Thanks to advanced technology, the crew were able to bring him back to life. He was taken in a critical condition to the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital in Santa Cruz.
At the natural pools of Bajamar in La Laguna on Sunday, lifeguards pulled a three-year-old girl out of the water who had almost drowned. She was taken to the HUC University Hospital in La Laguna. In the south, a 63-year-old man with moderate drowning symptoms was pulled out of the water at Playa de Las Vistas in Arona. He was treated at Hospiten Sur.
