A photo that is going viral at the moment was taken by Florida-based Karen Mason of a coastal bird feeding its chick a cigarette butt. Sadly, beach clean-up events here in Tenerife find a staggering number of them, and clearly from this photo, their lack of biodegradability is not the only peril they pose. So, if you’re a smoker and you do leave butts on the beach or coastline, please just don’t.
