Updated 20 June: A varied weekend this, starting today with the last couple of days of the International Festival of Latin Jazz and Ritmos del Mundo, both in Golf Costa Adeje  as part of the Summer Sounds of Adeje. Also already underway and continuing until Sunday is the Arona Summer Festival! in Playa de las Américas. A little quieter, perhaps, many are always interested in the Taucho fiestas and Ethnographic Days – rural Tenerife as you’d dream it which this year are on Friday and Saturday, and equally many will be be delighted to see the Corpus Christi carpets in south Tenerife on Saturday and Sunday.

For something completely different, however, you could try the Annual Costa Adeje Cocktail Competition at the Tourism Development Centre in El Galéon, or the Summer Solstice at the pyramids in the Güímar Ethnographic Parque, both on Friday, or take part in a beach clean-up at Poris on Saturday. The biggest thing happening this weekend, however, is the midsummer festival of San Juan Bautista (St John the Baptist). San Juan’s Day is actually on Monday, the 24th every year, but it’s on San Juan’s Eve that Tenerife has its own “bonfire night”, with celebrations in the hills, villages and above all on the beaches: there’s full information HERE about the Noche and the Día itself of San Juan Bautista.

However you spend the weekend, I hope you have a fantastic time!
