There is great excitement today in Tenerife, and the Canaries generally, after last night’s Spain’s Got Talent final which was won by Tenerife’s own murga Zeta Zetas. We will all be familiar with the murgas from the Santa Cruz carnival, and now one of them has become famous throughout the country, singing in their unique polemical and satirical style about social isolation, gender equality,  fire risks – to forests and even Notre Dame, organ donation, terrorism, and loneliness. Appreciation of the power of their message and the unique way in which the murgas deliver such topical controversies each and every year in Carnaval is clearly not restricted to the Canaries! Enhorabuena Los ZZ!
