Many shops and offices will be closed in the non-touristic parts of the municipalities listed below which have done so: the full list of 2020’s national, regional, insular, and municipal public holidays is HERE.

Martes de Carnaval is a public holiday in these municipalities:

Adeje, Arafo, Arico, Arona, Candelaria, El Rosario, El Sauzal, Fasnia, Granadilla, Icod, La Matanza, La Orotava, La Victoria, La Laguna, Puerto de la Cruz, San Miguel, Santa Cruz, Santa Ursula, and Tacoronte.

Just a reminder of the annual Feria de Artesanía de Canarias that starts tomorrow. Every year shortly before Christmas, the Canarian Government organizes a huge and extremely popular arts & crafts fair which alternates between the islands. Last year’s was held in Gran Canaria, and this year’s will be back in the Recinto Ferial in Santa Cruz between 4 and 8 December.

There are always around 150 or so arts and crafts stalls offering all kinds of traditional products, from food to jewellery, leatherwork to lace, woodwork to carving, and from pottery to etchings, you name it and it’s likely to be there. And in the run up to Christmas, it’s a fantastic opportunity for a day out and some very individualistic presents. Entry is free.
