Updated 24 June: The Swiss national arrested when his partner died in Icod de los Vinos on Friday has been bailed by the Courts while police investigate the incident which is now being treated as involuntary manslaughter. His passport has been seized and naturally he is prohibited from leaving Spain, but he also has to register every Monday with the Courts which could yet require him to be remanded in custody: that decision is pending the results of the autopsy which are still awaited.

Original post 22 June: A 64-year-old Swiss national is under arrest after his partner’s body was found yesterday in Icod de los Vinos. At present an autopsy is being carried out on the 63-year-old woman, also Swiss, but the police are working on the hypothesis that it is a case of domestic violence though his arrest is presently for wounding rather than murder, and it was he himself who called the police in the first instance.

I’ve posted many times before now about domestic violence. Anyone who feels in any sort of danger, or feels they’re being threatened or bullied, or pyschologically damaged or humiliated – domestic violence legally isn’t just physical – should seek help. And there is lots of help around. Please have a look HERE for what is available, and if you are a British national, the Consulate also has resources: please see HERE. The help is out there. Please use it.
