The 43 Grupo of the Spanish AIr Force, whose main mission is forest fire extinction, will again be carrying out training exercises throughout the Canaries next week. The Air Force says that between 6 and 10 May there will be two planes training out of Gando in Gran Canaria, in conjunction with the Military Emergencies Unit and the Ministry of Ag, Foods & Environment. Flights will cover all the islands so we will have a good chance to get to see these professionals training in readiness for the summer fire risk season: the best chance to spot them will be near the coast, reservoirs and forest areas, and naturally, if anyone does see them it’s important to know that there is no cause for concern.
