Spanish TV has issued a call for songwriters to submit potential entries to Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv. RTVE confirms, as I reported HERE, the country’s chosen song for this Eurovision will be chosen through the current season of Operación Triunfo, and will be sung by one of the contestants taking part. The song selection process will permit any composer to submit an original potential entry, and composers can even suggest particular contestants to sing it though RTVE doesn’t guarantee that the winning song will get the particular contestant the composer might name.

An evaluation committee comprising two people from the Eurovision fan associations OGAE and AEV, one from RTVE Digital and two from the music industry will choose a total of 10 songs from among those received to go to an online public vote: their top three choices will be guaranteed to be included in a special Eurovision gala in January with the other final selection of songs made by the academy professors and RTVE representatives. After the gala, the public will be entirely responsible for choosing Spain’s entry. The rules and regulations for submissions are HERE.
