Updated 30 November: The Cabildo has confirmed that from 8pm tomorrow night there will be no tram service between Santa Cruz and La Laguna because of a strike. Clearly the authorities did not want this to happen but the strike has evidently been called to coincide with the thousands wanting to attend LNB2018.

Updated 14 November: La Laguna’s Noche en Blanco has been rescheduled. It was supposed to take place this coming Saturday, 17 November, but has been postponed to Saturday 1 December. The principal reason is the weather forecast, with significant rainy weather arriving from tomorrow, especially in the north, but there is also a tram strike planned for Saturday which would have hit the event hard, so hopefully that at least won’t be a problem with the rescheduled date.

Original post 31 October: It’s now an established annual run-up-to-Christmas event that attracts people to La Laguna in their hundreds of thousands, and this year’s Noche en Blanco will take place on Saturday 17 November. The previous occasions have been enormous successes, and this year looks set to be just as brilliant, with a wide range of activities including street theatre, live music in the open air, shops open all night, street stalls, food, drink, church recitals, cultural events in every historic building or museum with tour guides giving different sorts of guided tours at intervals throughout the night – it is a real experience not to be missed.

Things start late afternoon around 5pm or so, with dozens of volunteers on hand to help co-ordinate and inform about all the free activities on offer throughout the town, and advise on everything from security or health concerns to locations and transport. Parking will be very scarce, so the best option will once again be to park in the Santa Cruz intercambiador car park and get the tram – which runs all night for this event with increased services – all the way to La Laguna’s La Trinidad terminus, which is right at the start of the old town and the night’s activities.
