The work of the association El Arca de Noé (Noah’s Ark) primarily focuses on the needs of those who for lots of reasons have been left behind, some by choice, some by self inflicted problems, others through mental illness or simply bad luck and can not face to go home, deeming themselves a failure before their family and friends. The association is registered, and so a full charity in our sense of the word, and reaches out to those it believes it can help, inviting them to discuss their issues over a meal, providing some clean clothing, and seeking an action plan for their re integration back into society through re-hab if necessary or simply by putting them back in touch with family and friends, updating their travel documents and getting them home.

Many of the people the charity helps have no documentation, which has often been stolen or lost, and in particular are also not able to work here or receive any state assistance. El Arca de Noé is only a small group which rents a small apartment as a refuge and meeting place, where
no one is refused though they unable to provide accommodation. Instead, they maintain a strong link with the Consulate and the few Canarian rehab facilities available to the undocumented; as such there is rarely a week goes by that they are unable to get an expat on his or her way home or sent for treatment.

On Tuesday 12 February there is a charity fun night in Buddies Bar in Parque Margarita, Los Cristianos. Anyone who would like to donate prizes for the raffles can drop them off at the bar in advance – details on the poster – and of course El Arca de Noé hopes as many as possible will attend the event itself on the 12th. If anyone would like to help generally independently of the charity event, clothing and food can always be donated, indeed the charity collects if you send an email to or phone 634 142 041 or 674 091 254. Noah’s Ark also has a Facebook page HERE.
