Updated 26 June: The Courts have today ordered a stay of proceedings in the case of Amy Gerard, the Loro Parque trainer who died in Puerto de la Cruz last December. Her boyfriend, against whom there were suspicions, was cleared after he appeared in Court to give testimony, with the Court ruling that after its investigations over the past six months, there is no evidence pointing to a violent death. Amy’s injuries have therefore been judged as compatible with her falling into the sea and the tide carrying her against the rocks. The case is therefore closed unless any further evidence should appear in the future to contradict today’s Court findings which are that there is no reason for the investigation to be continued.

Updated 16 April 2019: The La Orotava Court responsible for domestic violence cases has lifted its secrecy order in the case of Amy Gerard, the Loro Parque trainer who disappeared in Puerto de la Cruz at the end of November and whose body was sadly found in early December. In the process, the Court has revealed that the investigation which it has been conducting has discovered indications of an involvement of the boyfriend, who has now been summoned to appear in Court to give evidence in coming weeks.
