Fañabe arterial road closed for remodelling from Wednesday

Fañabe arterial road closed for remodelling from Wednesday

Updated 3 June 2019: These works on the road through the planations linking the TF1 to Fañabe coast will start this Wednesday, 5 June, and are expected to last until the end of July. During this period the road will be closed completely to traffic. The video in the original post below shows what the final result will look like.

Original post 21 February 2018: Adeje Ayuntamiento has produced a video about the renovations which will be taking place shortly on the road linking the TF1 to Fañabe coast. Mayor Fraga made the announcement on Monday, saying that a works contract had been awarded after the project being years in the planning. The road is one of the oldest in the municipality, the mayor explained, and is a fundamental artery to unite the coastal and residential areas of Adeje. The remodelled road will have pavements and a bicycle lane.

TF1 at a standstill this afternoon after car crashes near Poris de Abona

TF1 at a standstill this afternoon after car crashes near Poris de Abona

An accident on the northbound carriageway of the TF1 near Poris de Abona brought traffic to a standstill around 2pm this afternoon after both its lanes were closed to allow bomberos to free a woman trapped in a vehicle which had left the road and crashed into the concrete side barrier. The overtaking lane of the southbound carriageway was also closed to provide room for a helicopter to land to transfer her to Candelaria hospital where her condition is said to be serious. Emergency services say that the car’s passenger was transferred to a hospital in the south with non-serious injuries. Apart from the inevitable major delays caused by the lane closures, an horrendous tailback was caused on the southbound carriageway, police say, thanks to the “efecto mirón”, what we would call rubbernecking drivers.

Overturned lorry causes chaos as it spills load at entry to Los Cristianos

Photos: Buenos Dias Canarias TV.

It actually looked far worse, thankfully, than it really was, but it really did look terrible! A lorry carrying loose waste overturned this morning by the Hipertrebol in Los Cristianos, blocking the dual carriageway to the TF1 from the main roundabout at the entrance to town.

Emergency services say that the 53-year-old driver was fortunate only to have suffered cuts and bruises in the accident but his lorry’s load was less lucky, being spread all over the road and central reservation. Needless to say, anyone trying to get in or especially out of town early this morning experienced significant delays, but the Policía Local say that the road was fully reopened shortly before 11.30am.
