St Patrick’s Day annual Gala Dinner

St Patrick’s Day annual Gala Dinner

Failte and Slainte! There are a few tickets left for the St Patrick’s Gala Dinner in Golf Costa Adeje on Saturday 14 March. The venue has become something of a green and gold standard for this excellent event, given the top class catering and superb wines that are part of the dinner. And your host for the evening is the Honorary Irish Consul, Álvaro de la Bárcena Argany, who is now also a deputy minister in the regional government.

Tickets are €45 and some of that money, as well as funds raised by raffle during the dinner, will go the the Asociacion San Juan, an Adeje-based day centre for children and adults with special needs. For ticket reservation, call Noelle on 633 399 827 or Denise in the Irish Consular Office, mornings, 922 245 671. Hope to see you there!

There is no question that this is an evening of great fun, great food and great craic! And of course you don’t have to be Irish to be part of the Gala event – it’s an open Failte and Slainte for all who would like to join us.

La Laguna Noche en Blanco 2019

La Laguna Noche en Blanco 2019

Photo: Turismo.

It’s now an established annual event in the run up to Christmas that attracts people to La Laguna in their hundreds of thousands, and this year’s Noche en Blanco will take place on Saturday 16 November. The previous occasions have been enormous successes, and this year looks set to be just as brilliant, with a wide range of activities including street theatre, live music in the open air, shops open all night, street stalls, food, drink, church recitals, cultural events in every historic building or museum with tour guides giving different sorts of guided tours at intervals throughout the night – it is a real experience not to be missed.

Things start late afternoon around 5pm or so, with dozens of volunteers on hand to help co-ordinate and inform about all the free activities on offer throughout the town, and advise on everything from security or health concerns to locations and transport. Parking will be very scarce, so the best option will once again be to park in the Santa Cruz intercambiador car park and get the tram – which runs all night for this event with increased services – all the way to La Laguna’s La Trinidad terminus, which is right at the start of the old town and the night’s activities.
