Updated 26 June: It was announced in January that the first works of the motor racing circuit, now fully under Cabildo control, had been approved for tendering and now the Tenerife Cabildo has put the northern access out to tender for €3.2m. The Cabildo says that all the technical and administrative specifications are approved, and the works are expected to take 10 months once they’re awarded to the successful contractor.

As part of the process, the Cabildo has also initiated the contracting of consultiants and advisors specializing in drawing up plans and carrying out for such facilities, as well as the necessary procedures for ensuring the approval of the official motoring associations (the Federación Internacional de Automovilismo (FIA) and the Federación Internacional de Motociclismo (FIM)).

The Cabildo reiterated in its statement that it is committed to building the Parque Internacional del Motor de Tenerife in order to meet demands of many years from the motoring sector while simultaneously providing jobs and fostering economic development.
