Consular Officers from the British Consulate in Tenerife, Mary Suarez and Penny Gomez, have been working hard to improve the assistance given to domestic violence and rape & sexual assault victims on the island. They met with the National Police, UFAM coordinator and officers and also with the Secretary of the Domestic Violence Court in Puerto de la Cruz. They shared with them the great work carried out by the Consulate on these 2 areas, such as training sessions delivered to Police Officers in Tenerife South or specific leaflets they created to help victims who live or travel to Tenerife.

The Police and Court authorities have agreed collaboration with the Consulate and will hand over these resources to the victims in an attempt to empower them and ensure they are aware of all the resources available to them on the island and in the UK. Please see HERE for much more information on domestic violence, including advice from the Consulate for British nationals, and HERE for the Consular information for victims of rape and sexual assault.
