Updated 9pm: As feared likely, the body found this evening has now been confirmed as the missing fisherman, the Coastguard has announced.

Updated 6pm: A body has been found by the Coastguard in the sea not far from Santa Cruz and brought into the harbour. At present it is not certain it is the missing fisherman but it is sadly being assumed as likely. Forensic tests will now be carried out in the hope of identifying the body.   

Original post 27 January: The Coastguard resumed at first light today what it’s identifying as an intense search for a fisherman who is missing after setting sail from Santa Cruz the day before yesterday, and from whom there has been no signal since. A search plane, helicopters, lifeboats and the Guardia Civil are all involved in the hunt for the missing man and his craft, and Emergency Services say it is concentrated on the Anaga coast and San Andrés area.
